Whilst some will have read all three books in this series, there will no doubt be others who haven't read or watched anything, so we will endeavour to present to you all aspects of the case, from the initial investigation and how it unfolded, to the first and subsequent confessions all transcribed word for word (where possible) from the actual video and audio footage obtained from the FBI's Discovery Files.ĭuring this series we will look at the facts, the police investigation, the evidence, hear Chris Watts' explanation and his reasoning, but for the sake of balance, we will also address the many theories currently in circulation regarding this case and what happened during the early hours of August 13th, 2018. True Crime aficionados have been diligently following the Chris Watts case ever since the first news reports broke, but for others, it was the Netflix documentary that led them to this gruesome and heart-breaking case.

Featuring poems, excerpts from his private notebooks, lyrics, and hand-drawn self-portraits, The Flame offers an unprecedentedly intimate look inside the life and mind of a singular artist.Ī reckoning with a life lived deeply and passionately, with wit and panache, The Flame is a valedictory work. The Flame is the final work from Leonard Cohen, the revered poet and musician whose fans span generations and whose work is celebrated throughout the world. The Flame: Poems Notebooks Lyrics Drawings by Leonard Cohen We remember his life and work with this reading guide to the best Leonard Cohen Books …ĩ. This week marks the anniversary of his death in 2016. Here are some of the best Leonard Cohen books - including both biographies and books by the songwriter. Leonard Cohen is one of our favorite songwriters, but in addition to his excellent music, he also published a number of books of poetry and fiction. Honestly - I think Gates was mislead by some of the more problematic evidence of the period…while trying to to make sense of the complexity of the Confederate cause. For example, in 2009 he concluded that black soldiers served in the Confederate Army, a myth masterfully debunked over the years by historian Kevin Levin on his blog Civil War Memory and in his recent publication, Searching for Black Confederates: The Civil War’s Most Persistent Myth. Now, I have at times questioned Gates’s judgement. It makes for a wonderful companion piece to the documentary and I highly recommend it. Of course I ran right out and bought Gates’s new book, Stony the Road: Reconstruction, White Supremacy, and the Rise of Jim Crow. Hugo and Isabel are Mathéo’s friends, with whom he hangs out at lunch time and whenever he has free time. He loves his girlfriend, the charming, beautiful Lola, deeply. He is young though and is still at school. He is expected to win a medal – hopefully the gold – at the next Olympics. Mathéo is the British and European diving champion. The story then goes back and tells us more about Mathéo. Whatever happened the previous night has changed his life irrevocably and he will never been able to go back to his earlier carefree, happy life. Or something in his mind suppresses that memory. He can’t remember what happened the previous night. He also realizes that he has got cuts and bruises all over his body and something has happened in his room – it is totally trashed and everything there is broken and smashed. Mathéo gets up one day morning and realizes that he is still fully dressed. I got it last week and finished reading it yesterday. I was very excited when it was released a couple of weeks back. After reading Tabitha Suzuma’s ‘Forbidden’, and then her ‘A Note of Madness’ and ‘ A Voice in the Distance’, I have been waiting for her next book ‘Hurt’ to be released. I enjoyed this introductory story from the series by Bette Lee Crosby. She is faced with uncomfortable situations that force her out of her comfortable life. There wasn’t any real conflict in this story–things fell together too easily. □ (I’m exaggerating.) I could guess everything that was going to happen five chapters before it actually did. It literally follows every YA trope in existence. One of the reasons why I didn’t like this book was that it was extremely predictable. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I didn’t particularly enjoy this book as much as I originally believed. The main characters, Dimple and Rishi, are cute together, and the first impression is very nerdy and heartwarming feel where a happily ever after is expected. Things fell together like a stereotypical Disney movie. On a surface level, it was a fun and easy read. I honestly have pretty conflicted feelings about this book. Julie: I absolutely loved Knight – he truly was an “anti-hero” and it was fascinating to see how Anya struggled internally with the kind of guy he was despite being attracted to him. *BIG WARNING on that one for graphic content (not as much BDSM, but the imagery…wow) and language (Oh! WOW).* But….what now? Kathy: “Knight” by Kristen Ashley had me hooked from the very first page with the story line and the anti-hero. Lee Ann: I loved “Knight”, would like to see continuation of this series, and Kristen books with this little bit extra works for me. Here’s what our fellow readers are saying about #1 & 2: He was right up their alley, and I’m thinking perhaps “Raid” will be more my speed. Knight and I had a few “issues”, but I did enjoy it, and sooooo many LOVED him. A bit more erotica in nature than Kristen Ashley’s norm and these guys are true bad-boys. These are more along the lines of our “guilty-pleasure-y” anti-hero romance reads. It’s an opposites attract romance between a lady thief and a man too honorable for his own good. My debut was Taxing Courtship, the first in the Hands of Destin series. Tell us about your first published book OR your favorite work. I prefer stories that take me away from the ordinary world so I gravitate to anything speculative and historical romances a lot. These days I also depend on the happy ending that romances deliver so I’ve been reading a lot of romance in all different genres. I read all kinds of books, though fantasy romance is my first love. I’ve always been attracted to stories and story telling, but I didn’t really start writing until college. I took a few creative writing classes and really fell in love with the art. Even when I can’t travel physically, I’m happy read a book and take a vacation of the mind. I’ve always been a big reader, but never more so than this year. This past year has been hard with travel so limited. I do love a good adventure though, and traveling to see new places. I’m just too attached to my modern amenities to go without indoor plumbing for long. I’m not much of one for roughing it, so we don’t go camping as much as my kids would like. Our area has lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures so we do a fair amount of hiking and occasionally go camping. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband and three children.
